The Giver Review

I was wrong. Some movies are better than their books. I first saw The Giver on Netflix and liked it enough to want to read the book. The movie was beautiful the way they put it together and how it really explained the community was almost perfect. The book was slow, had a flop of a climax and, was really trying too hard.

I'm saying this as weird as it sounds but, the movie was better than the book.

adaptations in some ways. My favorite part had to be that the movie started off black and white then slowly got more and more color. It seemed like a little detail most movies would have left out. I also really liked the Giver because the lines that he had were really different from the book as I later see but, they really explained what was happening in the community. There were problems, of course, like how the Chief Elder knew about some of the stuff the Giver knows. So then what is the point of the Giver?It was also really weird that there was Taylor Swift as one of the actors and was in for a few seconds. After seeing the movie I was shocked to see it only had a 35% from the critics meanwhile 55% of people liked the movie.

The book was unexpected. It went slowly throughout 95% of it and then in the last few pages hastily put together a climax which wouldn't be bad if it wasn't just for Jonas the main character just to walk away from the community and hope no one sees him? I mean there were parts that were good and it explained where they go to school, where their food comes from and, how everything is used and reused. Still, I liked the movie better.

This experience of the book and movie was unique to most of what I have seen before. I know some like the book better but, I disagree. The movie just had for me what the book didn't. I firmly believe that the movie that Giver was better.
