Percy Jackson (#1): Movie vs. Book

I really love this book. I haven't finished the whole series but, I am definite I will finish it. The book is really cool. It made me interested in all types of Greek Mythology. Rick Riodan, the author, makes all the action scenes gripping, and the dialogue comedic. But, the movies for Percy Jackson are nothing like the book. The books are a thousand times better.

When I watched the movie There were three main things that were huge differences. 1- In the book the characters are 12 years old in the book, in the movie most of them are like 16. 2- The camp seems that it is all about fighting but, in the book it's more like a normal summer camp. 3- The climax is incredibly different. In the book it talks about Ares fighting Percy in the book it is just all about the fight with Luke. I wish they just made it a bit more like the book.

Could they even bother reading the book?

That GIF was my reaction to the movie.

They made Annabeth seem like all she could do was fight and gave her absolutely no backstory. They didn't even mention Clarrise. They completely exaggerated Percy's powers. He can't do all of that with the water! And, in my opinion one of the best parts of the book they took away which was when Percy finally found out Poseidon was his father.

In conclusion I forgot how disappointing this movie was. Just read the books first. Please do. The movie just stripped away everything fun and cool in the book and turned it into some monster. Don't watch the movie.
