A Monster Calls is a book by Patrick Ness. Patrick Ness's writing is just amazing. This was a sad book and Patrick made those sad moments heartbreaking and beautiful simultaneously.

There are 214 pages and a lot of them have really creepy-looking and interesting pictures on them by Jim

Kay. This in all is the best book I have ever read.

There are usually two reasons why I like a book one would be because the characters have come so far and I couldn't just stop hearing about them. With these books after I finish them I feel incredibly empty, because I've been reading about them for so long. The second reason I would love a book because I come into it expecting nothing much and I'm blown away, almost like I really can't put the book down, this was one of these books. I read it in one sitting. It was so incredibly gripping.

This book was sad, I have to admit. Nothing was happy, maybe bittersweet but, never happy. Patrick Ness, I feel slowly unwrapped the ending, to build emotion for the reader. Even in the 'calm' parts in the book I felt like I was in the eye of the storm. Even after the book it made me think about what was right and wrong. Do thoughts matter more than action? When is letting go okay? I know I will always continue to think of this book.

The last pages were so sad. I can't imagine the story ending differently. After I read the I just replayed the story in my head over and over. I understand the main character because it says that he had human emotions and in books that doesn't happen that much. Usually the character is too strong for such feelings or they just coast over their inner thoughts. It also said that is was okay to be angry, because anybody would. I loved that.

This is the best book I've ever read. It may be sad but, it is gripping, and the characters are real. I wish this book was longer because I loved everything about it. I thank Patrick Ness for writing this and making people think differently.
