Lord of Shadows is the second book in the Dark Artifices after Lady Midnight. It was sensational, at this point I already liked and understood all of the characters and the ending left me shocked, sad, and ready for the next book, all at the same time.I liked this book even better than Lady Midnight and I think the third won't let me down either . I have been marathon reading all of Cassandra's books and this book definitely has just left me eager for the next one.

This book was an awesome stage for the characters because they all are kinda figuring things out and strong relationships are forming. This is a list of characters I think I should talk about:

1

Kit- I loved how we saw him more in this book! He is slowly excepting that he is a Shadowhunter and a Herondale. I loved the team they formed with Livy, Ty, and him because they worked so well together and were proving that they still can do a lot even if they aren't as old as Emma and Julian. I can't wait to read more about him.

2

Mark-Mark is a lot closer to everyone, in this book. Julian is trusting of him and he is seen as their older brother. As it said on page 32 he goes to the training room to feel like a Shadowhunter and, I think he still struggles with the fact that he is half faerie. I still think there will be a break out point when he suddenly is excepted as a Shadowhunter.

3

Diego- Diego is not seen much in this book but, Cristina talked about him a bit. He is a Centurion(kinda super Shadow hunters) and is Zara's fiancé. He is called Perfect Diego by all the Blackthorns because he was called perfect by Christina multiple times. I hope he stays away from Zara in the future.

4

Zara-Zara is the pain of my existence she has a degree in snobbery and arrogance. She is so well written because Cassandra Clare wanted her too be unlikeable, she went above and beyond. She has no respect for other life because she can't relate to others and definitely does not try. SHE DOESN'T DESERVE PERFECT DIEGO. I hope Zara is not a problem for Emma, Julian, and the whole Shadow world in the next book.

5

Ty- I really like Ty because he is really kind and him and Livy are so close to each other and are the best twins. I'm really relived that someone noticed that Ty was Autistic because a lot of the characters didn't understand him. I'd love if Kit and Ty become parabati. In the future I believe he will be a great person and Shadowhunter.

6

Livy- I understood her person in this series so well and it is sad to say good bye to all of that. Her and Ty were so close and had such real relationship as siblings and friends. Livy understood Ty. Livy cared for Ty. Livy loved Ty. We kinda saw that growing up everyone her age to hang out with was just Ty and it proves why their relationship was one of the strongest Cassandra has written about. It was hard to say goodbye.

7

Dru- She is my favorite character in the series probably because she is just smart, unique, and sweet. I found it easy for me to become fond of her as a character partly because she goes unnoticed and doubted until she stood up for herself and said that she could and was going to fight. I wanna see more about Ash the faerie soon!! Dru is a star in my book.

8

Kieran-I liked him 100 times more in this book. It definitely gives some backstory for his father and brothers. My favorite part probably is when he was playing with Magnus and Alec's kids in the library because he was so kind to them and it was unexpected but, that made me love it even more. I wish good luck to him the next book.

The deaths in this book were shattering. The deaths were Malcolm, Jon, Arthur, Livy, Erec, Fal, and Robert. The one that hit me that hardest was Livy. I don't understand. I know the author did it for a reason and I respect that but, I will definitely miss her in the books. It was her and Malcolm's death that proved how ruthless Annabel(villain) truly is. Alec and Isabelle will be in pieces after Robert, their father's death and it will leave Shadowhunters in chaos because he was the Inquisitor. Still, every change was essential in this book.

Fal was one of the seven hunters of Mannan. They are unable to kill until, Emma suddenly kills one with Cortana, her blade. Cortona also shattered the mortal sword with Cortana. I can't decide if it is the blade or Emma herself that has the power to do these things but, I feel this will be huge.

In conclusion, I really liked this book as a whole. It showed a new side to characters, made ends and beginnings, and put a new piece in the story with Cortana. I have high expectations for the rest of the series.
